Socks Warm Your Heart
How amazing is it that our kids are getting invovled in helping the less fortunate? I know socks may not seem like much to some people, but for me, one with perpetually cold feet, a warm pair of socks are often very much appreciated. While I would normally have something to say about the homeless situation, I want to focus on this precious little girl (and, well, a really, really ignorant comment). I say way to go Sarah Lewis and keep up the good work! I hope no one ever does anything to discourage her. If she has already accomplished as much as she has at her age, imagine what she'll be able to do 10, 20 years down the road!
Here comes my beef (comments on the above linked article):

Could it be that our governments spent too much time listening to those who whine and complain about every expenditure on social programming? Every person to says, "I don't want my tax dollars spent on . . . " or asks "Who is going to pay for all this?" directly contributes to the problem of homelessness, and is thereby responsible to the plight of these needy individuals."
So this isn't one stupid comment, but two, but I believe both of these people should shut their pie holes.
First off, venividivici, why, oh why does everyone have to involve the governent in everything? THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH OUR GOVERNMENT - let's remember who voted in the government, now... This is one individual working to affect the lives of those less fortunate than herself. I'd love to send little Sarah Lewis more socks! venividivici, what have YOU done to help the less fortunate? What? You complain about our government? Thank you so much for your contribution to society! How's about you shut your pie hole now? If only more people could be more like Sarah Lewis, I think the homeless problem would start to solve itself WITHOUT government intervention.
Here's my suggestion, shut your pie hole, stop thinking about yourself for just two minutes a day, thank God for a well-orgainised, functioning government and send another pair of socks to Sarah Lewis.
