Hooray For Canada!

http://www.windmobile.ca/WIND-news/detail/globalive-welcomes-govt-canada-decision-and-prepares-bring-wind-mobile-market/

I read an article several days ago in regards to the new Wind network that is making its way to Canada. The network and company were approved by the Canadian government and then denied after spending 442 million dollars on air rights by the CRTC.

I was extremely happy to read today that the government has overturned the decision by the CRTC and the Wind network can now start providing service for the Canadian people! I, unfortunately, still have 2 years left on a contract signed with Bell Mobility, and I have not been impressed at all with their customer service. I have discovered a lot of blame placing and they have taken no responsibility for their own warranty and employees. I hope that the Wind network can create some good healthy competition in our wireless realm, so we can start paying reasonable rates for a good plan (like our neighbours to the South have the advantage of).

Way to go Government of Canada! Good job!

  1. It's about time! I, myself, am presently tangled in not one, but two wireless contracts. After a deeply dissatisfying experience with Telus, I bit the bullet and switched over to Rogers. While there have been mistakes, they're quick to take the blame and fix the problem. But it will be great to have some more competition in the ring. Let's get those mobility bills lower!

  2. Looking forward to costs coming down with the big boys - Telus, Rogers, and Bell. They're going to have to do something to keep people from switching.

Wilfred Laurier 1907 Speech

--> I think this is is something that needs to be forwarded until every Canadian with a computer receives it. The year is 1907, one hundred and three years ago. -->   Wilfrid Laurier's ideas on Immigrants and being a Canadian in 1907. 'In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes a Canadian and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet a Canadian, and nothing but a Canadian.  T here can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is a Canadian, but something else also, isn't a Canadian at all. We have room for but one flag, the Canadian flag. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and t...

A road not travelled

Disabled Vets Seeking to Sue Federal Government Today I will veer in a new direction.  I don't believe that I have yet to compose a post in which I actually agree with the people complaining about our government.  In this case, I do. This is not the first time where the mention of war veterans has entered the picture.  I'm all for supporting the people who fight for our country as well as the freedom of others.  These men and women often go beyond the call of duty and are true patriots in my book.  To enter a profession where active duty in a war zone is nearly a guarantee you get my stamp of approval. While the government certainly isn't to blame for 98% of the problems Canadians tends to blame it for, in this case, to deduct monetary awards from injured veterans is inappropriate and downright mean.  These are the people who should be most compensated by our government. If money is the issue here, surely there are other areas where costs could be c...

From the Minister of Foreign Relations and Banishment

Hello and welcome to SYPH and GH from your friendly Minister of Foreign Relations and Banishment. Or my informal title may be the Minister of Go Home. Ever wonder when Canadians became "Indo-Canadians", "Chinese-Canadians", "Korean-Canadians", and "African-Canadians"? What happened to "Canadians"? As a pure "Canadian-Canadian", where do I fall into this spectrum? When did becoming a Canadian entail gaining citizenship and rights without any responsibilities? I can maintain my language, religion, culture, and beliefs and still gain all rights and privileges of being a Canadian citizen. I'm all for freedom of religion and freedom of speech - I mean come on, read the blog! But I believe in the SAME freedom for all. If I want to pray to God in the middle of a public park, I want to do that. If I want my children to bring their Bibles to school, I want them to be able to. As far as I know, Canada has two national languages. Fr...
